{"id":5064,"date":"2016-03-05T15:36:42","date_gmt":"2016-03-05T20:36:42","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/mimbly.com\/wordpress\/?p=5064"},"modified":"2016-03-05T15:36:42","modified_gmt":"2016-03-05T20:36:42","slug":"meat-pasty-from-farmgirlfare-com","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/mimbly.com\/wordpress\/2016\/03\/05\/meat-pasty-from-farmgirlfare-com\/","title":{"rendered":"Meat Pasty from farmgirlfare.com"},"content":{"rendered":"<p><a href=\"https:\/\/mimbly.com\/wordpress\/?attachment_id=5065\" rel=\"attachment wp-att-5065\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"alignleft size-medium wp-image-5065\" src=\"https:\/\/mimbly.com\/wordpress\/wp-content\/uploads\/2016\/03\/Meat-1200x627-300x157.jpg\" alt=\"Meat-1200x627\" width=\"300\" height=\"157\" srcset=\"https:\/\/mimbly.com\/wordpress\/wp-content\/uploads\/2016\/03\/Meat-1200x627-300x157.jpg 300w, https:\/\/mimbly.com\/wordpress\/wp-content\/uploads\/2016\/03\/Meat-1200x627-768x401.jpg 768w, https:\/\/mimbly.com\/wordpress\/wp-content\/uploads\/2016\/03\/Meat-1200x627-1024x535.jpg 1024w, https:\/\/mimbly.com\/wordpress\/wp-content\/uploads\/2016\/03\/Meat-1200x627-500x261.jpg 500w, https:\/\/mimbly.com\/wordpress\/wp-content\/uploads\/2016\/03\/Meat-1200x627.jpg 1200w\" sizes=\"auto, (max-width: 300px) 100vw, 300px\" \/><\/a><\/p>\n<p>Pastry:<br \/>\n3 cups all-purpose flour, plus extra as needed<br \/>\n2\/3 cup ice water, plus extra as needed<br \/>\n1\/2 cup (1 stick) cold, unsalted butter, cubed<br \/>\n1\/2 cup shortening or lard<br \/>\n1 teaspoon salt<br \/>\n1 egg, lightly beaten<\/p>\n<p>Filling:<br \/>\n8 oz.\u00a0meat crumbles<br \/>\n1 russet potato, peeled and diced<br \/>\n1 small turnip, peeled and diced<br \/>\n1 large carrot finely diced<br \/>\n1\/2 white onion, chopped<br \/>\n3 tablespoons unsalted butter, divided<br \/>\n1\/2 teaspoon fresh thyme, chopped<br \/>\n1\/2 teaspoon fresh rosemary, chopped<br \/>\nkosher salt and freshly ground pepper, to taste<br \/>\nbrown mustard, garnish<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>In a bowl or directly in your food processor, mix flour and salt together before adding in cold, cubed butter.<\/li>\n<li>Pulse for 10-15 seconds, or until mixture is crumbly and butter is the size of small pebbles.<\/li>\n<li>With the motor running, slowly drizzle in 2\/3 cup ice water and pulse until dough ball begins to form. Note: if mixture is too dry, add more ice water, 1-2 teaspoons at a time.<\/li>\n<li>Once dough is formed, turn it out onto a lightly floured surface and roll it into a large, flat rectangle.<\/li>\n<li>Wrap dough tightly in plastic wrap and refrigerate 30-45 minutes, or until chilled.<\/li>\n<li>While dough chills, combine beef with potato, turnip, carrot and onion, and season generously with salt and pepper, thyme and rosemary.<\/li>\n<li>Preheat oven to 400\u00ba F and line a baking sheet with parchment paper.<\/li>\n<li>Remove dough from refrigerator and cut it into 6 equal pieces.
